What is QuickDepth? This system extension changes monitor color depths between 8,16 and 32 bit depths on up to three attached monitors. To do this all you need to do is hold down the Control, Option and Command keys and then press the numbers 1-9. The numbers 1-3 will change the first monitor, 4-6 the second and 7-9 change the third. In each of these three cases the lowest number (i.e. 1 ,4 or 7) is 256 colors and the highest (i.e. 3, 6 or 9) is millions. This is best used on a numeric keypad but works just fine if you don't have one. To find which monitor is which open your Monitors Control Panel and note the numbers that the system assigns to them.
This is the only monitor color depth changer that we know of that correctly deals with multiple monitors. We realize that the extension is fairly "special case" at this point, we did develop it for our own use and knew exactly what we wanted. But we also figured that there were others out there who would benefit from this as well.
This extension does not support Gray Scale, 16 colors, 4 colors or Black & White. It has been tested on only two machines a PowerMac 8100/80 and a PowerMac 8100/80AV with MacOS 7.5.1. It does no system error checking at this point we are assuming that from the description you can decide if you should install this on your system or not. It works just fine for us, but please let me know if you have any problems.

If you really like this extension but it doesn't fit your particular need we will make you a custom version for your particular monitor set-up for $20. That would buy us pizza for lunch, and nothing goes better with Mt. Dew than pizza, but everyone knows that already don't they??
